It would be difficult to add additional praise that hasn't been already given by other reviewers other than to say again how enjoyable it is interacting with the obviously well trained staff at Fitzgerald's. Reminder- cash is king, no credit cards accepted! I particularly appreciate that they use boneless and skinless North Atlantic cod unlike some places that use whitefish (which is usually bony). Here's a tip for those interested in trying the Fish Boil but not wanting to deal with crowds; December is their slowest month and if you show up a little after the dinner hour (say around 7 PM) you will likely have a great and relaxing experience with plenty of "elbow room". :) Another reviewer mentioned the wallet-friendly drink prices- the bar also has a menu of wonderful specialty martinis... $6. Very tasty and well mixed also. The gift shop is fun too- give it a look.

Fish was OK as were the potatoes. My chicken breast was tasty but a bit tough. Ribs were excellent. Those are the only choices. Serves Guinness, which is becoming more common but still can be hard to find.

Great food, friendly staff. Really nice place for fish boil. We came on Sunday afternoon in a group of 11 and they accommodated us with no problem. We love fish boil in Door County and this is equally great.

I went to dinner with friends & family whilst visiting the greater Chicago area. What a treat! The food is delicious &, for the price, it's a great deal. We went fairly early on a Wednesday evening so there was no crowd. I had the fish & chicken combo & both were yummy. The fish is tender but not mushy & quit flavorful. The butter really enhances the flavor. The chicken is delicious. In fact, there was nothing that wasn't fab. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in town!

Everyone in our party loved their dinner at Fitzgerald's. There were six of us. Everyone, but one, ate the fish and chicken combo, one had the chicken only. The food was excellent and Tina and her people were great. We will be back there soon. Larry W.

This place was awesome! Totally deserves its 5 star rating. Fish, chicken and ribs all fabulous. We drove there for dinner while staying at the Grand Geneva Resort. Will for sure visit again in the future. CASH ONLY.

This is a more unusual restaurant. The experience is akin to a local church dinner in that you pay cash, serve yourself water and coffee and go to a serving table to obtain your food. Now the food is made fresh and it is delicious - from the boiled fish, potatoes, onions, chicken and ribs, and is AYCE.

Great fish boil. Family owned business in a neat octogon house. They only take checks or cash...no credit cards.

Fantastic food with limited menu (all-you-can-eat fish boil, grilled chicken and ribs only) which just means they do what they do EXTREMELY well. Everything was fresh and delicious, the house was beautiful, and the prices extremely fair for the quality and service. I know we'll be back, often. And yes, (as others have warned) it is cash only.

Until you have a fish boil, it's really hard to fathom. Ever since my friend mentioned it I've been fascinated and also a little apprehensive. I mean, it looks like a plate of soggy, pale, blandness drowning in greasiness. But somehow, despite the appearance, you dive in...the lure of the butter perhaps? Whatever it is, this strange meal really hits the spot. I got the "fish only" Fish boil dinner which was Cod (instead of the traditional Whitefish), boiled with potatoes and onions then doused in drawn butter and served with coleslaw. I wasn't paying but I was still delighted that the mixed drinks were just $4...not $10+ like back home.

It was a nice first time experience but not again when we're in town. The food was ok, fish had a good texture but was bland. The chicken was sweet but had a good charred taste to it. The food was nothing spectacular though, just a country cook out place.

Popped my fish boil cherry. Took an impromptu road trip to Lake Geneva during Memorial Day weekend, hoping to have fun in the sun. Instead, it felt like the Midwest's "Spring/Summer" was LOLing at me. We ended up bundled up and biking in 50 degree weather. Looking for somewhere to go other than fast food and chain restaurants, I found Fitzgerald's. My first thoughts were "fish boil? Wtf is that?" Of course my caucasian fiancee knew, and before I could finish my sentence, he told me what to expect. I'm always up for a food adventure so we headed out. Right when you park, you see the gorgeous octagon building and feel like you're in a prairie estate. We walk in and it totally feels like you're having dinner at a friend's house. Everything is very antique, charming and whimsical. A lot of lace, lights and old pictures everywhere. I do the fish boil and hubby does bbq chicken and fish. We get seated upstairs in a smaller dining room with a lot of windows and funky wallpaper. A server approaches us quickly and when I see the drinks are $4, I have to refrain from shouting "WOO HOO!" Compared to $10+ back in Chicago, they're almost giving it away. We get vodka sodas and jack/diet. When we paid at the entrance for our food options, we were given a ticket. After we placed the drink orders, we're told to walk up to the nearest food station and get crackin'. Basically, it's a long table with trays of all the goodies you're able to get. There's the scrumptious, buttery boiled cod, the AMAZING cole slaw, red potatoes with onions, rye bread and the most delicious apple square ever. You can go up and shove your face with everything on the table over and over til you pop EXCEPT the dessert :(((. I knew this ahead of time but was trying to see if I could pay more $ or give someone a hug for an extra square. The thing is out of this freaking world! No dice. I just ordered more vodka sodas to ease my heartbreak. Service was great and the drinks came out really fast, even though the bar was on the first floor. I had such a great time, I insisted on checking out the rest of the place and you should too. The building is almost 200 years old and maintained so well, you'd think you're chillin' in the Victorian era. We checked out the actual boiling area which was so cool. You can check out dudes chopping piles of logs and boiling pots with their signature cod. Coming here definitely set the bar high for all mom & pop places and opened my eyes to a new experience. Thanks to Fitzgerald's, my cold "Summer" (ha!) trip turned out to be a success!

Great atmosphere, good food, and people. $14 for all you can eat fish, $16 for fish and chicken, and 18 for fish, chicken, and ribs. The bbq chicken and ribs are a bit on the sweet side but very tasty. The sides are very good as well. Really its a great place to bring some friends or family and just enjoy some quiet quality time. This is the second time i have been here in the past few years, and we always label it a success.

We went there today around 630ish. Knew it would be crowded. I have been here over 10 times before. Always bringing new family and friends to enjoy. Tonight was a complete let down and embarrassment. It started when we waited at the very small crowded bar. No one was around and was unsure who to pay or give our name to. I asked the young girl serving food who seemed disinterested at best. Finally a middle aged lady that was working the bar took my money and told me there would be a wait. I said ok and thanked her. She seemed to favor only people that were buying liquor and that she knew by name. I was advised by a very nice brown haired lady bussing tables that we can sit in the dining area. My group went over but were quickly embarrassed by the bar lady advising that that was another groups table. I apologized and said I was told by a worker. She quickly asked the fish server girl if she had "told someone" to sit, to which the girl replied jokingly "no". The bar lady replied smugly "I didn't think so". I sharply replied that I could hear her and didn't appreciate her talking indirectly about me. She said that all was fine. All was not fine! No apology. We then got in line for food. Oddly enough, they ran out of fish with our group. Fish server said 15 and bar lady said 6 minutes. We asked bar lady if we can get the other stuff while we waited. To which she agreed to but the fish server girl would only give me one chicken leg and my cousin a small piece of rib! After bar lady said ok. They ran out again of fish 2 other times and the fish server gave us attitude when we asked how long it would be. Saying the "food is like on its way". We came with 3 kids and 3 adults, hungry. I have never been treated like this before. Have been here so many times, bragged about it, and always loved the fish. Never again! You lost my business for ever and ill tell everyone my experience. Ill tell them to not patronize this place!!!

Went with friends who recommended this place very highly. I was not disappointed. The fish boil here is incredible. You get the all you can eat for $18 and includes excellent, BBQ chicken and BBQ back ribs. While I personally do not like ribs that fall off the bone, these were awesomely good, as was the chicken. You get sides including coleslaw and the drinks at a full bar were great. Even better were the prices for 4 drinks, 4 hard and 1 beer only $18. That was worth the trip alone. If you have never tried a fish boil or been to one, THIS is the one you must try. They use only boneless, skinless Cod, No whitefish or trout and it is awesome. WORD OF CAUTION, THIS IS A CASH ONLY PLACE. Do not bring any credit card. Everything about this place and the historical building it is centered in are great. You can even watch the boil in the back yard to see how they do it.

Wisconsin fishboil is great!!! Historical octagon home converted to restaurant is family owned and run!!! Make as many trips for fish, potatoes, onions, homemade rye bread....but only one apple slice!!! Good food, good fun... Watch the boil over outside and eat outside if you like!

No doubt the best fish boil in the lower half of Wisconsin. And it helps to be 1 hour toward Illinois instead of in Door County. And in a historic Octagon house with a huge deck on wooded acreage that includes a stream. The fish boil is claimed to be a poor mans all you can eat lobster meal. It is. And no shell cracking. Boiled in salted water - Cod, small red potatoes, sweet onions, salted Rye bread, perfect cole slaw and desert pie squares. And the nicest people. I could only eat two trips though. Choose if you want it married together with a steaming ladle of butter or not. I do!

I've driven thru Genoa City a hundred times, right past their front door, I can't believe I never noticed this place. I stumbled across info about this Fitzgerald's on the web, we decided to try it last night since we were out on Fox Lake and it was a short ride up for dinner. Boy was it worth it. Their fish is fantastic, potatoes and onions, coleslaw, and the RIBS!! RIbs were maybe the best part. Chicken was also quite good. We sat outside, no skeeters but plenty of flies to swat. Oh well, worth it to sit next to the cooking hut and watch the process. It is... primitive, the best way to describe. The boil-overs are cool. These people WORK to get the food out to you. Their serving model is a bit weird - pay up front, CASH, and you get a tiny ticket to show the buffet servers. Drinks are ordered with cocktail waitresses at your table, you pay them and tip them each round. Parking can be tight, you may have to park a block away. We got the last space in the lot, yet the restaurant wasn't nearly full. We sat on the back deck. When we were done we asked the cooks a bunch of questions. Very interesting. It's almost like a cookout, in a restaurant. The bldg is showing its age, it is 160 yrs old. But the whole experience was very cool, we will return. Next time, hungrier. We left so full we groaned about overeating all the way home. Fridays are their busiest night (fish in WI on a Friday... all you need to hear) so beware of that. Great alternative to those fish frys we generally avoid.

Full Disclosure: Sue Fitz and her family are friends of me and my family. That said, it's the best food going. The fish, of course, is perfect. It DOES taste like lobster. But the chicken - amazing. And the ribs are to die for. The wonderful salted black bread, I mean you just can't stop yourself from going back again and again. In the summer, it's all about the patio and the lush green grounds. In the winter, it's about cozy fireplace, cozy bar, twinkling lights. Sue and her family go out of their way to make sure YOU feel like you are a part of their family as well. An outstanding experience, all the way around. I wish they would magically clone themselves and open one here in Los Angeles!

If you haven't been here yet you have to go!! Great fish boil and it's cool to watch them do the boil over as well. Love the fish!!! It really does taste like lobster and the boiled tators and onions with drawn butter are so deelish! The drinks from the bar are good and cheap as well. We got our friends hooked from Michigan and they had never been to a fish boil!

We went to Fitzgeral's as skeptics thinking that boiling is possibly the worst way to cook fish. Dead wrong. To our surprise, the boiled cod tasted like, as others have opined, lobster! The taste and texture surpassed all expectations. Best of all, the price is an absolute bargain. The price is tiered if you want to add bbq ribs and chicken. We tried all three but the fish boil with potatoes and onions stand out as the signature entree. The place maintains a relaxing simple country feel and provides cordial and warm hospitality that are a rarity these days. The hostess was like that caring aunt everyone has. She walked us to the outdoor fire pit to view the fish boil. We got a good dose of culinary lesson from the two guys maning the fire and hot cauldrons. The place packs up fast and takes cash only. Highly recommended.

I *love* their buttery fish and barbecued chicken! The potatoes are good and you can get coleslaw and bread. I think you can get ribs too, but you have to pay more. The apple pie square for dessert is good too. The building is quaint, but has an interesting octagon shape. It's nice to eat out on the patio when it's warm.

I cannot believe they can make Cod taste exactly like lobster. Even the texture felt almost the same in my mouth. This age old receipe needs to be guarded by expert paramilitary commando's because if it ever leaked you could quickly make a chain restaurant that would easily destroy Red Lobster, Long John Silver's and other chain fish restaurants. They have a very pleasant staff as well. The only negative thing I can say about them is that the all you can eat buffet style should apply to the amazingly delectable apple squares also. I could eat a tray of those things.

This most excellent place is one hour north of city right over the border in wisconsin. They don't take credit cards. It is a mom and pop place. They have excellent cod fish boil (tastes like lobster) and barbeques. It's built in a small turn of the century building. You can eat outside on their patio (where they cook the food) or inside. Bar: Small bar in front of place. Opens at 5pm closes at 10 or so. (its a funky cool country place to go)

We have a cottage near here and we come here with family all of the time in the summer. The food is great, simple. I just brought my girlfriends after golf and they absolutely loved it. My husband and I have come up in the winter for a date night. It is a really special place.
